National Service Scheme is an extension of activities to the higher education system to orient to the students youth to community service while they are studying in education institution. NSS has been playing a vital role in giving the students adequate space and scope for imbibing a sense of social responsibilities through its various programmes for social uplift and reformation. Given this ideology, the NSS Unit of Nilambazar College was formed in Dec 2013. The NSS Unit of the college comprises more than 100 active students volunteers. During the last five years, the unit has been rendering social services at many different occasions, institutions, villages and caring out several training programme for students and other social activities like – Tree Plantation, Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan, Awareness Campign against Drugs abuse, Health Awareness Programme etc.
