Disaster Management Cell (DMC)

Disaster Management Cell of Nilambazar College works to create awareness and capacity building among the students and the college community in general about the manmade and natural disasters. It provides basic training in various forms like mock drills, seminars, awareness camps and workshops to prepare students as well as faculty to deal with any kind of emergencies.

Objectives of the cell:

• To prepare the college community for any emergency.
• To define roles and responsibilities and to implement mitigation activities in college.
• To create awareness and build the capacity of the college community.
• To promote partnership among various stakeholders.

The college disaster management plan is a guide for achieving the objectives related to disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. This plan helps in disaster response in a planned manner to minimize the loss of human property and environment. This preparedness exercise is to build capacities before a disaster situation prevails, in order to reduce impacts. It is vital that the DMC of the college remain functional throughout the year. The DMC will also bring various stakeholders under one roof so that the continuous effort of each stakeholder can create a resilient and safer environment for education in the college.
