DISTANCE EDUCATION OF NILAMBAZAR COLLEGE


People from various fields such as education, business, housewives and other professions wanted to pursue higher education, but many of them were unable to attend regular classes and lacked the opportunity to achieve the same. For this purpose the Governing body of the college passed a resolution to open a study centre of a distance University for distance courses and authorised the principal to take necessary steps to communicate with Krishna Kantha Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) for opening their study centre at Nilambazar College. Accordingly Principal, Nilambazar College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the concerned authority of KKHSOU in the year 2014.

After signing this MOU, Nilambazar College introduced undergraduate and BPP courses. In this session, 123 students were enrolled in BA and 31 students were enrolled in BPP program. To meet the growing demand for post graduate courses in the year 2015. The University Grants permission to begin masters’ degree only in political science. In this session, 38 learners were enrolled on MA, 150 students were enrolled in BA courses 38 students were enrolled in BPP courses. It is to be mentioned here that University granted permission to start more subjects in post graduate course that is Education, Economics and English from the session 2019-20. Now the centre is running efficiently both BA and MA courses.
